About the position

Davis & Floyd is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil and Environmental Engineer to join their team. This role involves providing environmental and civil engineering services to a diverse range of clients, working in a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will contribute to various projects, ensuring quality and compliance while fostering client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and work on specialized civil and environmental projects for public, industrial, and commercial facilities.
  • Perform civil site planning and designs for industrial facilities, including stormwater modeling, permitting, and bid documents.
  • Conduct all aspects of site design such as grading, drainage, stormwater management, water distribution, and sewer collection.
  • Check and prepare site plans, designs, reports, and drawings.
  • Review data collected through field studies and surveys.
  • Assist senior engineers with project design, specifications, inspections, and report preparation.
  • Communicate with clients and regulatory agencies to establish expectations.
  • Conduct construction site visits to monitor progress and contracted services.
  • Oversee the work of staff civil engineers and technical subordinates.
  • Manage daily activities and scheduling of various assigned projects.
  • Develop construction cost estimates.
  • Apply engineering principles to solve routine technical problems.
  • Review and prepare design computations and quantity estimates.
  • Assist design team in meeting budgets, schedules, quality, and specifications.
  • Prepare presentation materials for client meetings and public review sessions.
  • Ensure quality standards and client satisfaction are met through coordination and follow-up.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by senior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years design experience in site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, and permitting.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements and program implementation.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local agency regulations.
  • Knowledge of engineering and surveying practices.
  • Experience managing a variety of site development projects and client interactions.
  • Ability to manage and communicate clearly with staff and clients.
  • Experience in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D, SEDCAD or SSA.
  • Project management skills including interaction with environmental agencies and client communication.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid Waste Management and/or Industrial Wastewater design, permitting, and compliance experience.
