About the position

The Operations Manager for Environmental Consulting at Montrose is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of all technical service lines in the West Coast Region. This role involves managing personnel, ensuring quality deliverables, maintaining the P&L, and aligning operations with corporate goals. The position requires strategic planning, financial management, and collaboration with various departments to optimize environmental resiliency and fulfill project requirements effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of all technical service lines for the West Coast Region.
  • Oversee the West Coast P&L and ensure profitable work is produced consistently.
  • Partner with the Regional VP and Practice Area Leaders to meet corporate financial goals.
  • Develop and report on corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Create and manage the annual budget, providing updates and recommendations as necessary.
  • Mentor People Managers and monitor staff morale and performance.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams on project opportunities and staffing.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of project/program management experience, with 2-4 years in a people manager position.
  • Experience in a professional consulting environment, particularly in environmental consulting.
  • Excellent strategic planning and change management skills.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Broad understanding of financial management principles and business acumen.
