About the position

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer/Environmental Engineer to support an expanding portfolio of projects. The successful candidate would be based in Syracuse, NY. As part of our Resilience Environment team, you will work closely with a team of twelve experienced environmental and civil engineers, collaborating on diverse projects of varying sizes and types across North America. Our team operates in a supportive, mentoring-oriented environment, emphasizing technical growth and professional development. In this role, you will primarily focus on projects related to remediation, land development, and restoration for a wide range of clients, including industrial-private, public sector, and agency-based organizations. Your responsibilities will involve earthwork and hydrologic-hydraulic modeling, site design, development of construction and permitting related documents, and office-based construction support. The position will include, but is not limited to, activities such as engineering design including land development planning, hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout, and earthwork site design. You will also be responsible for developing permit/construction-level drawings and details, preparing construction technical specifications, report writing for civil and environmental permitting, and construction cost evaluation and estimating. Additionally, you will provide office-based support of construction projects, which includes submittal reviews, field change documentation, and site layout information.

Responsibilities

  • Support an expanding portfolio of projects related to remediation, land development, and restoration.
  • Conduct earthwork and hydrologic-hydraulic modeling.
  • Design site layouts and develop construction and permitting related documents.
  • Prepare construction technical specifications and reports for civil and environmental permitting.
  • Evaluate construction costs and provide estimating support.
  • Provide office-based support for construction projects, including submittal reviews and field change documentation.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or have earned a BS in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering discipline.
  • Previous work experience (internship or full-time) in civil or environmental consulting or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills and focus on health and safety.
  • Excellent teambuilding and organizational abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-2 years of previous work experience in civil or environmental consulting or related field.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or scheduled within the next 6 months.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, or other terrain modeling design software.
  • Experience with hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, WinTR-55, PondPack, HEC-RAS).
