About the position

The Environmental Engineer position within the Water Division focuses on delivering professional engineering services related to storm drain, wastewater, and water systems. The role emphasizes communication, collaboration, and innovation, allowing engineers to contribute to critical projects while fostering a supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in engineering-focused organizations, emphasizing leadership and marketing growth within the field.
  • Play a key role in business development meetings and activities, driving and monitoring sales for the company.
  • Manage project schedules to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary client contact, overseeing and implementing client relationship strategies.
  • Develop fee estimates, cost projections, project scopes, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
  • Prepare and manage engineering agreements for various projects.
  • Oversee contract administration processes.
  • Collaborate with clients, agencies, team members, and senior management to align tasks and ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Supervise and direct staff activities, monitor workloads using Deltek software, and adhere to company procedures.
  • Create construction cost estimates for assigned projects.
  • Represent the company at client meetings and relevant agency sessions, including city council or county planning and zoning meetings.
  • Manage work-in-process, ensure accurate client billing, and handle accounts receivable and collection efforts for assigned projects.
  • Analyze reports, maps, survey data, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and perform duties outlined in contract documents.
  • Complete QA/QC forms for deliverables and encourage junior staff to follow the QA/QC process while coordinating review schedules.
  • Review project lists and planned hours weekly, collaborating with team members, project managers, and group leaders to ensure accuracy and timely work completion.
  • Support junior staff with guidance and assignments as directed by senior engineering professionals, team/group leaders, branch managers, or CAD leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of post-graduate experience, or equivalent.
  • Must hold a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license or registration in the State of California.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience as a Senior Associate Engineer or equivalent, with a total of ten (10) years of experience post-PE licensure.
  • Proven expertise in teaching, training, motivating, and leading engineering teams.

Nice-to-haves
