About the position

The Environmental Engineer position at CLOIS involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and managing various environmental programs related to air emissions, spill response, and hazardous materials. The role requires interaction with employees and customers, as well as the ability to conduct inspections, maintain records, and provide support for environmental management systems. The engineer will also engage in sustainable acquisition practices and support pollution prevention initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Review and ensure compliance with Federal, State, local, and Air Force regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain data gathering and reporting for the air emissions program.
  • Coordinate and manage inspection records for Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST) and Spill Prevention Counter Measures and Control (SPCC) Program.
  • Maintain spreadsheets and records on the Engineering Environmental shared drive.
  • Provide maintenance oversight and assistance to NASA tank operators and managers.
  • Manage and maintain SPCC inventories and site binders for hazardous materials.
  • Conduct quarterly field site inspections and maintain inventory for the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Provide general NEPA advice for incoming work requests.
  • Support the Pollution Prevention (P2) Recycling Program and identify strategies for waste minimization.
  • Track and maintain records for construction and demolition waste and recyclable commodities.
  • Coordinate with regulators during inspections and ensure compliance with operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant field experience in a multi-discipline industrial or military environment.
  • Valid state of Florida driver's license.
  • EESOH-MIS training for program overview and access is desirable.
  • Good organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Forty-hour HAZWOPER training is required.
