About the position

The Portfolio Manager (PM) at U.S. Bank is responsible for managing a portfolio of complex renewable energy tax equity investments and project finance loans. This role involves identifying and mitigating risks, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. The PM will also oversee project performance, conduct financial analysis, and prepare underwriting packages to support deal modifications and restructures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor project construction and development milestones, analyze project performance, and continually monitor risk profile of investments.
  • Monthly forecasting of equity fundings and credit delivery, and quarterly priority return collection.
  • Review complex legal documents pertaining to structured credit arrangements and negotiate risks with counsel and business partners.
  • Timely review of due diligence documentation, proactively identifying issues to be addressed.
  • Review and analyze financial models to identify underwriting, cash flow, and accounting risks.
  • Prepare high-quality underwriting packages for post-closing deal amendments and modifications.
  • Manage project issues and provide value-added solutions, identifying uncertainties and risks.
  • Articulate the Bank's position to customers and advocate on behalf of Sponsors with Credit and management.
  • Provide high-level customer service through clear communication and managing expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties to facilitate management of investments.
  • Engage in team meetings, trainings, and activities to enhance team learning and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Typically a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically six or more years of related experience in renewable energy finance.
  • Proven credit management, underwriting, and financial analysis skills, including cash flow analysis experience with complex transactions.
  • Knowledge of financial modeling techniques and analysis of proforma financial statements.
  • Comprehension of complex project finance transactions, loan documentation, and deal structure mechanics.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy project management and U.S. energy markets.
