About the position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager at SteelCell of Northeast GA, LLC is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting health and safety practices within the organization. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs that align with company goals and regulatory requirements. The EH&S Manager will identify potential hazards, assess risks, provide training, and foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. Collaboration with various departments to conduct audits and inspections is essential to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks and conduct ongoing safety inspections.
  • Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Prepare and schedule training on emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures and manage Worker's Compensation claims.
  • Draft inspection reports to document findings and ensure safety data sheets are maintained and accessible.
  • Maintain records of discharge or employee exposure to hazardous waste and pollutants as required.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance status for management review.
  • Provide training to employees on safety practices, emergency response procedures, first aid, CPR, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with management to investigate accidents or incidents and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Stay updated on changes in EHS regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master's degree desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards.
  • Experience in managing EHS programs within an organization.
  • Knowledge of EPA regulations concerning environmental protection.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Strong report writing skills for documenting safety audits, incidents, and compliance reports.
  • Familiarity with workers' compensation law and processes.
  • Understanding of occupational health principles related to workplace safety.
  • Ability to fabricate solutions for unique safety challenges as they arise.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels regarding EHS matters.
