About the position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will oversee and enhance the environmental, health, and safety programs of a well-established manufacturing company in Covington, Georgia. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards while promoting a safe and healthy workplace through the development and implementation of safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify and address unsafe conditions or behaviors in our facilities, equipment, and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on safety and environmental practices to all levels of plant operations.
  • Oversee fire protection and operations management (O&M) programs, ensuring readiness and compliance with fire safety standards.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), system audits, and ergonomic assessments as needed to reduce risk and improve operational safety.
  • Drive a culture of safety by leading injury reduction efforts and promoting a 'Zero Injury Culture' throughout the organization.
  • Manage the injury review process, analyzing root causes and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
  • Monitor and report on operational safety and environmental performance, tracking key metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Act as the emergency response coordinator, developing and leading an emergency response team to ensure effective preparedness.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and task force initiatives to support broader organizational goals and safety improvements.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental safety standards, and safety management practices.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and developing safety training programs.
  • Strong background in fire safety, environmental safety, and occupational health and safety.
  • Ability to develop and implement safety and environmental procedures across diverse teams.
  • Proven track record of promoting a safety-first culture and driving continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage emergency response protocols and lead safety initiatives across multiple locations.
