About the position

The Environment, Health, and Safety Manager (EHS Manager) is responsible for EHS compliance, EHS programs and EHS culture across multiple GTI production facilities. This role partners with employees across multiple facilities to effectively ensure EHS compliance and guides local sites to effective implementation of EHS Programs, and leads a process that assures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations. They will implement a sustainable environmental, health and safety management system and drive EHS performance improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental, health and safety compliance and management for assigned area to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local law while minimizing impacts from business activities, products, and services.
  • Communicate compliance risks to leadership to coordinate and execute effective management strategies.
  • Perform audits and lead corrective action programs.
  • Drive implementation of strategic EHS initiatives; identify elements of change required to support the EHS strategy; encourage management team to balance short-term demands with long term benefits of strategic EHS programs.
  • Establish a process to reduce incident rates and environmental impacts while reducing company costs; establish order of priority for EHS initiatives and drive their implementation in cooperation with department managers, safety teams, and other personnel.
  • Analyze safety trends and develop appropriate countermeasures.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure that contractors, suppliers, consultants are compliant with relevant regulations and company health and safety policies.
  • Develop and work collaboratively with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and local staff to develop and implement EHS programs for manufacturing facilities, consistent with corporate objectives.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and updating network-wide safety programs appropriate for operations.
  • Develop and deliver training for safety programs live and through an LMS.
  • Partner with appropriate third parties to support EHS program development.
  • Perform detailed accident investigations that lead to actionable root causes.
  • Share safety best practices with peers across the network.
  • Ensure all significant near misses, injuries, and safety events are investigated and abatement measures implemented.
  • Ensure safety metrics are visible and communicated.
  • Responsible for network-wide hazard analysis of work centers.
  • Actively manage reducing workers' compensation costs through accident and injury reduction programs.
  • Engage with injured employees, medical professionals, and insurance company to ensure appropriate medical treatment and return to work programs for injured employees.
  • Direct case management on workers' compensation claims.
  • Partner with occupational health clinics to build strong relationships to improve employee safety and the outcome of injuries.
  • Participate in workers' compensation claim reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Health, or related subjects in addition to a minimum of 3 years work experience; or 7 plus years of experience.
  • Prior safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Possess a working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulations, laws, and guidelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • High business acumen to evaluate risk.
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work well with others while also completing individually assigned tasks.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to create a positive work environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with various audiences, including supervisors, upper management, and regulatory agencies.
  • Highly organized, with obsessive attention to detail.
  • Experienced in Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgment, common sense and resourcefulness.
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus on one task for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work independently throughout a workday with given directives.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestically.
