About the position

The Environmental Health Specialist position at Johnston County Public Health Department focuses on overseeing the Onsite Wastewater & Well Programs. Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site evaluations for wastewater disposal systems and private drinking water supplies.
  • Conduct permitting and post-inspection for commercial, residential, and industrial systems.
  • Monitor and inspect Type III-B septic systems.
  • Provide consultation and investigate public health problems.
  • Educate the public on environmental health practices and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or postgraduate degree from an accredited program in environmental health or public health.
  • One year of experience in environmental health practice.
  • Eligibility for registration or license as an Environmental Health Specialist in North Carolina.
