About the position

The Environmental Operations Manager at Bering Straits Native Corporation is responsible for overseeing and managing environmental remediation projects primarily on the East Coast. This role involves daily management, supervision, and coordination of projects to ensure they meet cost objectives, while also developing proposals and managing key relationships with federal government customers. The position requires a strong technical background in engineering or geology, along with leadership skills to manage teams and subcontractors effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain key relationships with Federal Government customers.
  • Identify target requirements for environmental work and develop proposals, pricing, work plans, and technical requirements to secure awards.
  • Hire and manage key personnel and field staff for project execution.
  • Develop key subcontractors and vendors to successfully execute contracts.
  • Implement office policies and establish standards and procedures, measuring results against standards and making necessary adjustments.
  • Foster a team atmosphere through leadership and employee development.
  • Manage engineering team activities and monitor quality control, safety, and efficiency for projects.
  • Review documents to address technical issues and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, assemble direct cost estimates, and analyze methods/resources for cost effectiveness.
  • Track awarded contracts and manage contract P&L.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience on remediation/environmental projects
  • BS in Geology or Environmental Engineering
  • Experience with OSHA and other regulatory requirements
  • Experience in hiring, directing, training, and motivating field personnel
  • Strong business and construction management background
  • Ability to obtain military base passes and operate vehicles on federal facilities
  • Min of five years' experience managing federal contracts, especially with DoD
  • Technical writing expertise and ability to work with a proposal team
  • Effective interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite Programs: Word, Project, PowerPoint, and working knowledge of Excel and Project
