About the position

The Environmental Planner 2 position at the Department of Transportation involves supporting environmental permitting processes to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local environmental regulations. The role requires evaluating permit documents, providing recommendations for modifications, and assessing repair plans related to stormwater management and erosion control. This full-time position offers the possibility of part-time telework and is ideal for individuals with experience in environmental planning and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Support all stages of environmental permitting to ensure projects commence and advance as scheduled.
  • Evaluate permit documents and provide suggestions for acceptance or modifications.
  • Offer recommendations for necessary corrections or repairs for subsequent action.
  • Assess repair plans related to stormwater management and erosion and sediment control for PennDOT's Maintenance and Construction Units.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1; or
  • Five years of progressive professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or
  • A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and two years of progressive professional environmental planning experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
