About the position

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Planner to support the Planning team within the Transportation business line, focusing on environmental support for transportation projects in the Greater Pennsylvania area. The role involves preparing NEPA documents, conducting field evaluations, and engaging in public involvement activities, all while collaborating with multi-discipline teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Support planning studies and reports
• Prepare NEPA documents, including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and possibly Environmental Impact Statements
• Conduct field evaluations and assessments, such as wetland delineations and resource assessments
• Prepare technical reports
• Prepare waterway permit packages for federal and state encroachments
• Engage in public involvement activities, including preparation of meeting materials and responding to comments
• Perform general technical writing

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Planning, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, or related field
• Two years of experience in the planning and environmental permitting field in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and/or Delaware
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Working knowledge of ArcGIS

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in Environmental Planning or related field
• Experience with NEPA environmental documents for FRA, FTA, and/or FHWA
• Experience with wetland delineations using USACE Regional Supplements
• Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations, specifically NEPA and related acts
• Transit or transportation experience, especially with PennDOT, DelDOT, NJDOT, and/or Amtrak
