About the position
Haley & Aldrich is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner/Scientist to support technical and field project management in a collaborative environment. The role involves working on diverse infrastructure projects, conducting site reconnaissance, preparing professional reports and maps, and managing project tasks. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated problem solver with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork, contributing to the company's mission of delivering exceptional value to clients.
Responsibilities
- Perform site reconnaissance to observe existing conditions and identify important site features.
- Conduct research and compile information for public communication on complex issues.
- Write professional-quality reports and prepare maps/figures.
- Perform fieldwork, including some travel and occasional weekend work.
- Assist in developing technical scopes of work and estimating costs for proposals.
- Attend project meetings with clients, regulators, and contractors.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Serve as project task manager and eventually take on a project manager role.
- Support marketing and business development activities to develop new clients.
- Provide technical mentoring to junior staff.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Planning, or Natural Resources.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental planning and permitting (NEPA and HEPA).
- Experience delivering environmental planning and permitting projects for various agencies.
- Strong communication, writing, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to interact well with internal staff and project teams.
- Experience managing internal and external project teams.
- Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Nice-to-haves
- GIS mapping, data analysis, and data management skills preferred.
- Experience delineating wetlands and streams preferred.
- Experience preparing cost proposals and work plans.
