About the position

Haley & Aldrich is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner/Scientist to support technical and field project management in a collaborative environment. The role involves working on diverse infrastructure projects, conducting site reconnaissance, preparing professional reports and maps, and managing project tasks. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated problem solver with a strong commitment to safety and teamwork, contributing to the company's mission of delivering exceptional value to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site reconnaissance to observe existing conditions and identify important site features.
  • Conduct research and compile information for public communication on complex issues.
  • Write professional-quality reports and prepare maps/figures.
  • Perform fieldwork, including some travel and occasional weekend work.
  • Assist in developing technical scopes of work and estimating costs for proposals.
  • Attend project meetings with clients, regulators, and contractors.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Serve as project task manager and eventually take on a project manager role.
  • Support marketing and business development activities to develop new clients.
  • Provide technical mentoring to junior staff.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Planning, or Natural Resources.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental planning and permitting (NEPA and HEPA).
  • Experience delivering environmental planning and permitting projects for various agencies.
  • Strong communication, writing, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to interact well with internal staff and project teams.
  • Experience managing internal and external project teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • GIS mapping, data analysis, and data management skills preferred.
  • Experience delineating wetlands and streams preferred.
  • Experience preparing cost proposals and work plans.
