The Environmental Program Manager for AWS Environmental Infrastructure Development at Amazon Data Services, Inc. is a senior-level position that plays a critical role in managing environmental requirements during the development of data centers and infrastructure across the Americas. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, biology, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 7 years of experience in delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for both existing sites and new developments. The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and support for investigative and remedial activities. Additionally, the role demands at least 3 years of project or task management experience specifically related to environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects. In this role, the Environmental Program Manager will partner with various AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies that enable the construction and operation of AWS data centers and infrastructure. The responsibilities include leading environmental due diligence for site selection and acquisition, developing and executing environmental permitting strategies, managing environmental compliance during the design and construction phases, and preparing for data center operations. The position requires regular engagement with multiple AWS stakeholders, including Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Water, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operational teams, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering multiple high-priority projects with tight timelines, necessitating strong communication skills with partner teams, outside consultants, and regulatory agencies. The role also requires a strong understanding of multi-media United States environmental permitting, remediation, and compliance requirements associated with large-scale infrastructure, particularly experience with Clean Water Act (CWA) 404 and NPDES permitting. The Environmental Program Manager will assess environmental risks and requirements, lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence, deliver necessary environmental permits, and communicate environmental requirements and risks to project partners. This position is integral to ensuring that AWS can continue to innovate and provide reliable cloud services while adhering to environmental regulations and standards.
