About the position

BEM Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to join their team in Anchorage, AK. This role involves managing complex environmental restoration projects, particularly in remote areas of Alaska, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while meeting project goals. The position offers relocation assistance for qualified candidates and emphasizes the importance of technical expertise and leadership in project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of environmental restoration projects requiring complex logistical planning for remediation and demolition operations in remote Alaska.
  • Lead technical and field staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring project goals are met.
  • Develop technical scopes of work for projects.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and schedules using software applications such as Microsoft Project Schedule and/or Deltek Vision.
  • Prepare subcontractor bid packages and evaluate planning and scheduling options for long-term projects with multiple, simultaneous tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with CERCLA, RCRA, and State of Alaska cleanup regulations, successfully completing remediation projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Conduct presentations for clients and regulators on technical approaches and project findings.

Requirements

  • A degree in engineering, environmental sciences, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience managing environmental investigation, remediation, or restoration projects for federal or state government agencies.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Alaska preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulations and coordination with project stakeholders, including ADEC, USEPA, USFWS, BLM, and AK native communities.
  • Current HAZWOPER certification per 29 CFR1910.120 is preferred.
  • Professional licensure (PE, CPG, etc.) is preferred, but verifiable past experience with quality references will also be considered.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Deltek Vision software applications.
  • Previous experience with the Department of Defense or other federal and state government agencies.
