About the position

The Environmental Project Manager will oversee environmental and compliance projects at closed facilities in Eastern PA, managing a budget of approximately $3 million per year. This role emphasizes environmental compliance and regulatory affairs, requiring strong analytical skills to review and act on data. The successful candidate will supervise site staff and contractors, ensuring quality and timeliness of operations while maintaining safety and compliance with environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise site staff, contractors, and consultants to ensure quality and timeliness of work.
  • Conduct oversight of operations, monitoring, maintenance, and construction activities.
  • Monitor permitting and compliance issues to ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Minimize operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
  • Gain knowledge of site-specific systems including landfill gas management, leachate management, and water treatment systems.
  • Act as a liaison in regulatory and community relationships as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Waste Management's Mission to Zero standards and regulations.
  • Meet financial review dates and adhere to corporate programs in a timely manner.
  • Oversee personnel needs including selection, coaching, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Assist in the budget process and adhere to budgets at assigned sites.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of landfill properties through inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Conduct and contribute to periodic safety meetings to promote morale and productivity.
  • Provide training and job-related presentations as needed.
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field, or a High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 7 years of relevant work experience in environmental management or compliance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with monitoring or testing equipment operation.
  • Supervisory experience in a similar field.
  • Familiarity with computer-based word processing, data management, and information presentation skills.
  • Experience with MS Office and Power BI.
