About the position

The Environmental Quality Analyst position focuses on compliance and enforcement duties within the Water Resources Division's Groundwater Discharge Permits Program. The role involves ensuring adherence to state laws and regulations regarding water pollution, conducting facility inspections, and responding to emergencies to protect public health and the environment in Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Perform compliance oversight for the Groundwater Discharge Permits Program.
  • Conduct facility inspections to ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies related to water pollution.
  • Implement regulatory programs to protect human health and prevent unlawful pollution.
  • Serve as a recognized resource for compliance oversight in assigned geographic areas.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, environmental studies, physical sciences, resource development, or resource management.
  • At least one year of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst 9 for the 10 level.
  • At least two years of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst for the P11 level, including one year at the 10 level.
  • At least three years of professional experience equivalent to an Environmental Quality Analyst for the 12 level, including one year at the P11 level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience conducting inspections related to environmental regulations.
  • Familiarity with Wetlands, Inland Lakes and Streams, and/or Critical Dunes programs.
