About the position

Toeroek Associates is seeking a senior environmental chemist or scientist to provide technical and management support for challenging environmental projects across the United States. The role involves working on regulatory programs such as Superfund, Brownfields, and RCRA, with opportunities for remote work in several states. The position emphasizes collaboration and problem-solving in a supportive work environment, requiring strong research, writing, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Uniform Federal Policy Quality Assurance Project Plans (UFP-QAPPs)
  • Perform review of deliverables, data packages, work plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Conduct technical reviews and prepare technical reports and other documents on data quality/quality assurance
  • Manage projects and project teams in technical document reviews and report preparation
  • Serve as project manager acting as client liaison on technical and project status issues
  • Present findings to clients and attend meetings with clients, facility representatives, and the public
  • Provide laboratory oversight for National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) accreditation
  • Oversee all data management and validation per the EPA Guidance on Environmental Data Verification and Validation

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline (preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in QA/QC (preferred)
  • Understanding of U.S. EPA data validation guidelines and environmental analytical methods
  • Experience evaluating contaminated site characterization and remediation
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Detailed writing and analysis skills
  • Ability to function as a team member in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Windows-based applications

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PFAS site characterization, fate and transport, and treatment
  • Experience with site investigations and remediation, including groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil, and vapor intrusion investigations
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
