About the position

The Environmental Remediation Project Manager at WSP will oversee and manage projects related to environmental remediation, focusing on remedial design, field investigations, and contaminated site management. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure project delivery within the oil and gas industry, while also providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff. The position is based in Rifle, Colorado, a location known for its outdoor recreational opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee projects under the client's Terms and Conditions.
  • Support field staff in collecting soil, groundwater, and air samples for analyses.
  • Create detailed maps, lithologic logs, and cross sections while gathering and analyzing data.
  • Assist with proposals, cost estimates, and technical reports for regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee the team operating and maintaining field equipment and instrumentation.
  • Provide senior-level expertise and technical guidance on complex regulatory projects.
  • Lead and mentor geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists.
  • Prepare technical reports for various regulatory commissions.
  • Take projects from original discovery through final remediation.
  • Develop project scope and objectives, clarifying roles and functions of team members.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks.
  • Plan project execution and monitor performance according to the project execution plan.
  • Manage project closure aspects ensuring correct documentation.
  • Ensure project team understands and adheres to HSSE requirements.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the project schedule.
  • Supervise change request activities and advise on scope changes.
  • Develop a multi-disciplinary project budget and manage subcontractor interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with client invoicing requirements.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline; PG or PE license preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of environmental consulting and/or project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with project financial tracking and change management.
  • Experience with CAD, Civil 3D®, and ArcGIS is a plus.
  • Expertise in project planning, numerical tracking, and analysis using MS Excel or similar programs.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and calm under pressure.
  • Experience in managing multi-discipline teams.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technical writing and office automation software.
  • Ability to direct others in the field to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety standards.
