About the position

The Environmental Response Supervisor at Harris County Pollution Control Services Department is responsible for overseeing environmental response operations, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and protecting public health. This role involves managing a team, responding to environmental emergencies, and coordinating with various agencies to ensure effective environmental management.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and organize environmental response operations.
• Supervise and train the Environmental Response Team, including performance management and conflict resolution.
• Perform administrative tasks such as reviewing reports and preparing budget requests.
• Evaluate and respond to environmental incidents, coordinating with relevant agencies.
• Communicate environmental response actions and investigations to management and stakeholders.
• Maintain readiness for environmental emergencies and ensure proper documentation of responses.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in a directly related field from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of experience in environmental clean-up and response or emergency response and management.
• Knowledge of personal protective equipment and environmental sampling techniques.
• Familiarity with NIMS and Incident Command systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to operate and calibrate monitoring and sampling equipment.
