About the position

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Hygienist in Las Vegas, NV, to support environmental, safety, and health (ESOH) programs with a focus on Industrial Hygiene and Air Force Bioenvironmental Engineering. The role involves assessing and mitigating workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with health standards, and serving as the primary point of contact for IH and Bioenvironmental matters on the RSSII contract.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and mitigate workplace hazards through studies and analysis.
  • Perform workplace inspections and conduct mishap and incident investigations.
  • Generate reports on findings and recommendations.
  • Adopt and manage guidelines outlined in the Amentum Safety Management System procedures.
  • Monitor and prevent chemical, radiation, biological, and physical hazards.
  • Review and incorporate health standards published by regulatory authorities.
  • Establish quality control procedures to monitor compliance with regulations.
  • Provide necessary reports to Federal, State, and local agencies.
  • Direct audits of health and safety programs to identify potential hazards.
  • Stay informed on changes in occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Update safety training programs for personnel compliance with current regulations.
  • Develop and promote communication programs for incident prevention and compliance awareness.
  • Apply confined spaces, lockout/tagout, and hazardous waste requirements as needed.
  • Identify and evaluate environmental or safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Perform professional safety and health assessments and inspections.
  • Maintain familiarity with statutory requirements related to environmental, safety, and health regulations.
  • Support the development and implementation of industrial hygiene programs.
  • Study workplace environmental factors affecting employee safety and health.
  • Review purchase orders requiring safety evaluations and ensure updates are communicated.
  • Enforce compliance with established Environmental, Safety, and Health guidelines.
  • Support Bioenvironmental Engineering requirements related to radiation producing devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, or an applied science field.
  • Five years of directly related ESOH experience.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Certification in CSP, CIH, CHST, or PE, with preference for CIH, completed or scheduled within 6 months of hire.
  • Eligibility to possess and maintain a US Government Secret security clearance.
  • Valid state issued driver's license.
