About the position

Parsons is now accepting applications for our Summer 2025 Environmental Science Internship program supporting our Irvine (CA) team! In this program, you will expand your engineering technical skills and knowledge with direct mentorship and collaboration within a world-class team of Infrastructure design experts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage in field activities that may include water investigation, wetland delineation, and mitigation site monitoring. You will be involved in making observations, collecting samples, performing routine tests, and maintaining documentation related to these activities. As part of your responsibilities, you will prepare required field and office reports detailing various activities and findings. This includes researching and gathering statistics and related data for periodic and/or special one-time reports. You will assist in the preparation of waterway and resource agency permits for transportation projects, ensuring that all necessary documentation is accurate and complete. Additionally, you will review, verify, and format this information into reports for use within and outside the unit, which may be presented in spreadsheet or graphical formats, narrative style, or word documents. When not out in the field, you will be working within the office on public involvement tasks, contributing to the overall success of the projects. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience and exposure to the critical infrastructure sector, allowing you to develop your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. You will also perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate, ensuring a well-rounded internship experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in field activities including water investigation, wetland delineation, and mitigation site monitoring.
  • Makes observations, collects samples, performs routine tests, and maintains documentation.
  • Prepares required field and office reports of various activities and findings.
  • Researches and gathers statistics and related data for periodic and/or special one-time reports.
  • Assists in the preparation of waterway and resource agency permits for transportation projects.
  • Reviews, verifies, and formats information into reports for use within and outside the unit.
  • Prepares accompanying correspondence and distributes reports as directed.
  • Works within the office on public involvement when not in the field.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in technical curriculum at an accredited college or university and studying Environmental Science or related field.
  • Experience or interest in native and invasive species plant identification and/or restoration techniques is a plus.
  • Must be hard working and physically able to work in the environment, lifting/carrying up to 30lbs over short distances on uneven terrain.
  • Must be willing and able to work outside in variable weather conditions typical of California Spring or Summer.
