About the position

The Environmental Scientist - Entry Level position at Nova Group, GBC is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to begin their careers in Environmental and Industrial Hygiene Services. This role involves a variety of responsibilities including site visits, data collection, and assisting with project proposals, all while adhering to safety standards and quality control. The position offers training and experience to help advance in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.
  • Participate in pre-task planning.
  • Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Perform site visits, field observations, and field data collection on assignments.
  • Assist with the generation of written proposals to clients for various projects.
  • Conduct building inspections to identify asbestos containing materials (ACM).
  • Collect bulk material samples of suspect ACM for laboratory submission.
  • Assess physical condition and quantify materials.
  • Create sample location diagrams and write reports detailing findings.
  • Supervise asbestos abatement projects and ensure compliance with AIHA standards.
  • Conduct indoor air quality investigations and document existing building conditions.
  • Use various meters and instruments to collect onsite data.
  • Collect samples using EPA/OSHA methodology for laboratory submission.
  • Write final reports discussing sample results and provide recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science-based field (environmental, biology, chemistry, engineering).
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Work experience in Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Safety and Compliance, industrial hygiene, or hazardous materials control is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel locally and nationally, up to 75% of the time.
