About the position

The Environmental Scientist/Geologist position at Stantec involves conducting environmental assessments, hydrogeological studies, and subsurface investigations. The role requires sampling of various environmental media, oversight of subcontractors, and preparation of technical reports and project deliverables. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to health and safety procedures while working both in the office and in the field.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental assessments and hydrogeological studies.
• Conduct subsurface investigations and remediation projects.
• Sample soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater.
• Oversee subcontractors and coordinate project activities.
• Prepare project deliverables including Environmental Site Assessments and progress reports.
• Draft technical reports and ensure quality assurance and control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage tasks for sites undergoing assessment or remediation.
• Participate in proposal preparation and project budgeting.

Requirements

• BS in Geology or Environmental Sciences or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 to 5 years of related experience in environmental projects.
• Proficient in HSSE policies and procedures.
• Experienced technical writer with the ability to draft complex documents.
• Ability to travel for extended field work (2 to 3 weeks per cycle).
• Good driving record and valid driver's license required.
• Experience in groundwater and soil sampling procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience drafting CERCLA related documents such as Feasibility Studies and Record of Decisions.
• OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred.
• Experience with construction oversight and remediation system operation.
