About the position

The Environmental Scientist position at AECOM is an opportunity for experienced professionals to join the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) & Air team in Germantown, MD. This role focuses on environmental regulatory compliance, due diligence, and project management, with a pathway to obtaining AECOM Project Manager Certification. The position involves technical support for environmental projects, client relationship development, and mentoring junior staff, contributing to AECOM's mission of delivering a better world through sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

• Competency in environmental regulatory programs and compliance including RCRA, EPCRA, NPDES, SPCC, and EHS Auditing.
• Conduct environmental due diligence and qualify as an ASTM 1527-21 Environmental Professional.
• Develop and manage Phase II environmental site investigations including water, soil, and air sampling.
• Provide technical support for regulatory compliance and environmental due diligence projects, including technical quality reviews.
• Effectively communicate with all levels of a project team and attend client meetings as requested.
• Develop client relationships and assist in business growth with a focus on the Baltimore area.
• Mentor junior level staff.
• Obtain AECOM Project Manager Certification within 1 year of employment.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree with 4 years of experience or equivalent experience/education.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time, primarily regionally but may include some nationwide, overnight travel.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• 7+ years of recent environmental due diligence, EHS, and subsurface investigation related experience.
