About the position
The Environmental Scientist III position at AECOM in Germantown, MD, is designed for experienced professionals in environmental science, focusing on environmental health and safety (EHS) and air quality. This role offers a pathway to project management, requiring expertise in regulatory compliance and environmental due diligence, as well as the ability to manage site investigations and mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Competency in environmental regulatory programs and compliance including RCRA, EPCRA, NPDES, SPCC, and EHS Auditing.
- Conduct environmental due diligence and qualify as an ASTM 1527-21 Environmental Professional.
- Develop and manage Phase II environmental site investigations including water, soil, and air sampling.
- Provide technical support for regulatory compliance and environmental due diligence projects, including technical quality reviews.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of a project team and attend client meetings as needed.
- Develop client relationships and assist in business growth, particularly in the Baltimore area.
- Mentor junior level staff.
- Obtain AECOM Project Manager Certification within 1 year of employment.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree with 4 years of experience or equivalent education/experience.
- Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time, primarily regionally with some nationwide travel.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field.
- 7+ years of recent environmental due diligence, EHS, and subsurface investigation experience.
- Client-facing experience.
- Project management experience.
