About the position

Parsons is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join their Critical Infrastructure team. This role involves utilizing advanced technologies and methodologies for environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation, contributing to a cleaner and safer planet. The Environmental Scientist will perform various geological and environmental tasks, ensuring health and safety are prioritized while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various field and office tasks requiring the application of standard geological and environmental science principles and theories
  • Assist and conduct soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and other environmental sampling
  • Supervise drillers and other subcontractors
  • Execute field projects with health and safety as the top priority
  • Complete field documentation such as activity hazard analysis (AHA) forms, project field reports, field notes, sampling records, and chain-of-custody forms
  • Assist in geologic and environmental analyses and interpretation, which may include hydrogeology and/or geochemistry
  • Analyze and interpret environmental sample analysis results within the context of the geological setting
  • Prepare figures of environmental data, potentiometric surface maps, geologic maps, and cross sections
  • Develop materials and assist in completing reports on finished field work
  • May provide technical guidance to lower-level geologists or environmental scientists
  • Work with project managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills, to ensure projects are completed on time and budget
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related field
  • Typically 3+ years of related work experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations is preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field or as part of a team
