About the position

The Environmental Services (EVS) Representative at Houston Methodist is responsible for maintaining environmental and infection control standards within established policies and procedures. This role involves performing various cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and attractive environment for patients, guests, and staff, contributing to the overall quality of care provided by the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Interact positively and professionally with patients, family, and staff.
• Participate actively in meetings and team huddles, using positive communication.
• Respond promptly to requests for assistance from patients, staff, and visitors.
• Perform efficient room cleaning processes to facilitate timely patient admissions.
• Follow department processes for room cleaning and discharge inspections to meet cleanliness scores.
• Track and log safety and repair needs for equipment during discharge activities.
• Comply with policies, procedures, and safety rules, including standard infection control precautions.
• Communicate and document facility or patient-related issues to management.
• Use and store chemicals and supplies appropriately during shifts.
• Manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks to minimize overtime.
• Participate in continuing education and in-service programs for personal growth.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent education preferred.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to perform the assigned job safely.
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.
• Multi-task oriented with the ability to complete work within designated time frames.
• Ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate efficient and safe use of housekeeping equipment and chemicals.
