About the position

The Environmental Services Assistant at Lutheran Life Villages plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents. This position involves both housekeeping and laundry duties, ensuring that all areas of the facility are well-kept and that residents' laundry needs are met. The role emphasizes engagement with residents while performing essential cleaning and laundry tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facility and resident halls in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Provide services associated with laundry work to meet establishment needs.
  • Clean common areas, offices, employee/resident lounges, public bathrooms, and hallways.
  • Dust mop and spot mop all common areas and hallways as assigned.
  • Clean bathrooms, wash, sanitize, and polish bathroom fixtures.
  • Maintain and refill supplies, discarding waste into proper containers.
  • Vacuum lounge areas and organize magazines/reading materials.
  • Damp dust and high dust all furniture, sills, ledges, and handrails.
  • Monitor ceiling tiles, walls, handrails, floors, vents, and baseboards for maintenance needs.
  • Wash and replace dining room table cloths.
  • Make residents' beds daily and replace with clean sheets weekly.
  • Clean windows and mirrors in assigned areas.
  • Sweep, dust, damp/wet mop, and disinfect floors.
  • Set up appropriate caution or safety signs before performing duties.
  • Perform terminal/discharge cleaning as instructed.
  • Transport soiled linen to the laundry room and sort it.
  • Operate washer and dryer, fold clean laundry, and transport it to storage areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or environmental services is a plus.
  • Ability to engage with residents and provide compassionate service.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or senior living environment.
  • Basic knowledge of laundry operations and equipment.
