UPMC Harrisburg is currently seeking dedicated Environmental Services Associates to join our housekeeping team. The Environmental Services Associate will be responsible for ensuring that all assigned areas meet the hospital and department standards, thereby promoting a high quality of care in the environment. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, with a variety of shifts available to accommodate different schedules. In this role, the Environmental Services Associate will perform a range of cleaning tasks, including but not limited to, cleaning patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, and offices. The associate will also be responsible for removing trash, replenishing supplies such as paper towels and soap, and making beds in patient discharge rooms. Additionally, the role involves moving equipment and furniture, washing walls, and spot cleaning carpets as needed. It is crucial for the associate to inspect all assigned areas to ensure they are properly cleaned and maintained, reporting any issues to the supervisor promptly. The position requires adherence to safety and sanitation regulations, and the associate will be expected to maintain all cleaning equipment in good working condition. Responsibilities

  • Clean all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
  • Remove trash from all assigned areas.
  • Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
  • Make beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
  • Move equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
  • Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, report problems to the supervisor.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete housekeeping duties.
  • Ability to use housekeeping equipment.
  • Clearances must be dated within 90 days, including Act 34 with renewal.
