About the position

As an Environmental Services Technician (Housekeeping) at Select Specialty Hospital in San Diego, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients and staff. This full-time position offers a pay range of $20.00 to $24.38 per hour, depending on your years of experience. At Select Specialty Hospitals, we specialize in caring for chronically and critically ill patients who require extended hospital care, and we are dedicated to providing an exceptional patient care experience that promotes healing and recovery in a compassionate environment. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all assigned areas, including patient rooms, offices, nurse's stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobby areas, are kept clean and orderly. You will demonstrate a commitment to customer service excellence in all interactions with patients, family members, visitors, and other staff members. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be essential as you perform routine housekeeping tasks according to established schedules and procedures. Your daily responsibilities will include cleaning assigned areas using special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease, dusting surfaces, emptying trash, making beds with clean linen, and replenishing supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items. You will also be expected to maintain the overall condition of the hospital, ensuring sanitation, order, and appearance are upheld at all times. This position requires a resourceful and inventive problem solver who is a results-oriented team player.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean work environment in assigned areas, including patient rooms, offices, nurse's stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, and lobby areas.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer service excellence in all interactions with patients, family members, visitors, and other staff members.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Clean assigned areas using special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease.
  • Dust window sills, blinds, floors, and furniture using dust cloths and vacuum cleaners.
  • Empty ashtrays and trash buckets, and arrange furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.
  • Make beds with clean linen in a prescribed manner.
  • Scour and polish sinks, tubs, mirrors, and similar equipment.
  • Replenish supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform light manual work.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
