About the position

The Environmental Services Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the Children's Center, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position involves performing daily cleaning tasks, managing laundry services, and adhering to the facility's standards and procedures. The role requires a commitment to the organization's mission and values, promoting a culture of respect and service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks for resident rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, and other assigned areas.
  • Receive, sort, wash, dry, fold, track, and deliver laundry within the Children's Center.
  • Understand and promote the mission, vision, and core values of Elizabeth Seton Children's.
  • Strive to improve the organization's systems and services.
  • Treat every resident, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy.
  • Demonstrate behavior that promotes the Service of Excellence philosophy of the Children's Center.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information while performing duties.
  • Perform basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and methods.
  • Clean resident rooms, offices, corridors, stairways, furniture, restrooms, and other related areas.
  • Operate cleaning equipment such as wet/dry vacuums and carpet vacuums.
  • Replenish bathroom supplies and maintain cleanliness of assigned equipment.
  • Assist with emergency spills and report the need for repairs to equipment and facilities.
  • Collect, sort, and weigh soiled laundry and maintain the linen room in an orderly condition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Housekeeping Worker or Laundry Worker, preferably in a healthcare facility.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Meet health standards and requirements established by NYDOH and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.

  • Competitive hourly wage ranging from $21.56 to $23.64 per hour.
