About the position

The Environmental Specialist at Tepa Companies will work collaboratively with scientists, engineers, and project managers on various environmental remediation, investigation, and compliance projects. This role involves field work planning, environmental sampling, data management support, and ensuring data quality and reporting. The specialist will also assist in managing and reporting environmental data, contributing to the development of new data reporting tools, and enhancing data management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project team in all project phases including planning, data collection and management, project documentation, field sampling, site assessment activities, and technical report writing.
  • Support the preparation of work planning documents and associated deliverables.
  • Prepare environmental technical data summary reports.
  • Perform data and documentation quality assurance/quality control reviews and support the production of effective technical reports.
  • Execute activities and workflow to meet established program goals and objectives.
  • Maintain open communication with project staff regarding all issues and develop resolutions.
  • Perform tasks in a safe manner.
  • Travel to client and project sites as needed.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in an environmental field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • 40-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and annual refreshers.
  • 8-hour Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Supervisor.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30-hour Construction Safety Supervisor.
  • Familiarity with GIS mapping and data analysis.
  • Experience compiling, analyzing, and reporting on technical data from a variety of sources including reports, field observation, testing results, tabular data, databases, and other existing reports and figures.
  • One (1) internship completed in relevant field.
