About the position

The Environmental Specialist at Targa Resources is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance within the operations at the Mont Belvieu Complex. This role involves collaboration with various teams to meet regulatory requirements and operational goals, focusing on air compliance, waste management, spill response, and environmental program auditing. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist management, operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and corporate policies.
  • Track air compliance related to Title V operating permits and New Source Review (NSR) air permits, including preparing semi-annual Title V reports and annual compliance certifications.
  • Oversee the environmental Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program, managing subcontractor teams and conducting compliance tracking and regulatory reporting.
  • Support waste management activities to ensure adherence to the site waste management plan and proper disposal of waste.
  • Manage spill response and remediation activities, including oversight of contractors and reporting to regulatory agencies.
  • Support compliance with stormwater and wastewater permits, including sample collection and reporting of noncompliance.
  • Communicate updates on environmental priorities and permit deviations to the Environmental Supervisor.
  • Assist in reviewing engineering projects for environmental impacts and compliance, documenting necessary information.
  • Organize and audit environmental programs and policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the point of contact for regulatory agencies regarding reports and inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in an environmental compliance role, preferably in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to interface with various teams and subcontractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Intermediate desktop computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.
