About the position
As an Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing and managing environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulations and minimize the plant's environmental impact. This role involves regulatory compliance, pollution prevention, employee training, incident response, data management, and maintaining the environmental management system according to ISO standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Implement initiatives to reduce pollution and waste.
- Conduct training programs to raise environmental awareness and promote safe practices.
- Investigate and respond to environmental incidents, implementing corrective actions.
- Collect and analyze environmental data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage the implementation and maintenance of the environmental management system (ISO 14001/45001).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Occupational Health and Safety.
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- ASP, CSP, or COSHO certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, including RCRA, SWP3, PSM, Tier II, Form R, SPCC, and wastewater discharge.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and standards.
- Ability to identify and resolve environmental issues.
- Effective communication skills to interact with employees, management, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve environmental goals.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
