About the position
The Environmental Support Specialist will join the waste management and hazardous material assessment team at Whitman, based in Somerset, NJ. This role involves providing administrative support, engaging in hands-on labor for environmental field services, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and mentorship within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide internal administrative support for the company's waste management and hazardous material assessment divisions, including preparing job-related paperwork, scheduling projects, and interacting with clients and vendors.
- Develop and manage spreadsheets and reports, and organize files.
- Provide hands-on labor supporting select environmental field services activities, such as performing building inspections, waste inventories, and packing.
- Obtain and deliver samples for testing and support the accounting department with billing needs.
- Work with all company departments to support waste disposal and hazardous material assessment-related activities.
Requirements
- Relevant experience preferred.
- A college degree is required.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, independent, results-oriented, and adept at multi-tasking effectively.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the entire body.
