About the position

The Environmental Systems Analyst will play a crucial role in providing environmental compliance and sustainability support by managing and implementing environmental management information systems. This position involves collaborating with clients to identify and scope environmental data quality and compliance projects, as well as delivering technical solutions and support. The analyst will be responsible for creating SQL-based regulatory reports, troubleshooting technical issues with the software platform, and developing integrations with various data sources. Additionally, the role includes creating compliance dashboards and email notifications, identifying data gaps, and providing regulatory assistance for the preparation of compliance plans. The analyst will also review regulations and technical documents to ensure compliance and support clients in enhancing their environmental performance and sustainability initiatives. The work may extend to performing environmental data analytics and generating dashboards that help clients monitor their performance, improve compliance, and bolster sustainability efforts. The position requires a strong commitment to producing high-quality deliverables and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, clients, and regulatory staff. The analyst must demonstrate self-initiative and motivation, with a focus on client service and a desire to cultivate a career in environmental consulting. A flexible working style is essential, as the analyst may need to adjust their schedule to meet project deadlines and client needs. The role also requires the ability to travel to client locations and other Barr offices as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental compliance and sustainability support by managing environmental management information systems.
  • Work with clients to identify, scope, and manage environmental data quality and compliance projects.
  • Create SQL-based regulatory reports and troubleshoot technical issues with the software platform.
  • Develop integrations with other data sources and create compliance dashboards and email notifications.
  • Identify data gaps and provide regulatory assistance for the preparation of compliance plans.
  • Review regulations and technical documents to ensure compliance.
  • Perform environmental data analytics and generate dashboards to support clients in monitoring performance and enhancing compliance.
  • Build effective working relationships and collaborate on multidisciplinary project teams.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience supporting environmental software implementations in a consulting or industrial environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical/environmental/civil engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related scientific degree.
  • Proficiency with SQL.
  • Experience with air emission calculations.
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulatory programs.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and commitment to high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and meet clients' service expectations.
  • Effectiveness in building working relationships and working on multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Self-initiative and motivation, with an emphasis on client service.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with Intelex ACTS and/or V6 software.
  • Experience with off-the-shelf EHS software packages such as EarthSoft EQuIS, Enablon, Cority, Sphera, and/or SAP EHS.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Power BI, XML, Java, Python, or similar.
  • Familiarity with requirements gathering, documentation, and organizational change management.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulatory agency staff and resource managers.
  • Ability to process complex information to extract key issues and develop strategies.
  • Aptitude for developing client relationships and turning leads into business opportunities.
