About the position

The Environmental Tech II position at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital involves providing detailed housekeeping services to assigned areas and project areas, including cleaning discharges and ancillary spaces. The role includes serving as a preceptor for skills training and acting as a resource for Environmental Technician I staff members. Responsibilities include maintaining and restocking Environmental Services equipment, providing quality customer service, adhering to safety guidelines, and ensuring proper disposal of waste materials. The position requires effective communication and the ability to teach cleaning processes and techniques to others.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a preceptor for facilitation and documentation of routine training and orientation of staff members.
• Acts as a resource person for other Environmental Services staff.
• Provides expertise in solving difficult cleaning problems and/or challenges.
• Cleans, maintains and restocks Environmental Services equipment and returns to designated storage areas.
• Provides quality customer service to all customers by providing one-on-one attention to detail.
• Exhibits professionalism and responds to customer queries and requests.
• Follows proper guidelines when cleaning discharges or project rooms.
• Communicates with lead/monitor tech/nursing staff.
• Completes proper documentation for isolation cleanings.
• Reports any safety defects or work hazards to site leader or manager.
• Adheres to safety guidelines and regulatory compliance in using chemicals and equipment.
• Ensures proper disposal of waste materials.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
• One year experience in the health care housekeeping field or experience within a similar industrial housekeeping setting required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and read written materials.
• Close attention to details essential.
• Must be capable of teaching both process and techniques to others.
• Must have the knowledge and ability to perform all types of cleaning tasks as an Environmental Technician I.

Nice-to-haves

• National Executive Housekeeper Certification desirable.
