About the position

The Environmental Technician position at Sherwood Inspection Services involves working in various locations including Connecticut, Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York, and parts of Massachusetts. The primary responsibility of the technician is to set up, track, and retrieve radon testing units as part of real estate transactions. Additionally, the technician may conduct mold testing and collect water samples from different homes and businesses. Training and examinations will be provided to ensure the technician is well-prepared to conduct radon, mold, and water testing. The role requires the use of a computer for checking company-related emails and utilizing programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word. Professional communication with inspectors, office staff, realtors, and homeowners is essential for success in this position. The technician will be expected to learn about the services offered by Sherwood Inspection Services, track radon devices, set them up for testing, and coordinate with realtors and homeowners for the retrieval of these units. The role also includes taking samples of mold and sending them via FedEx, as well as transporting water samples to a laboratory for testing. Writing reports for radon and mold results is also part of the job. The technician must be available to work weekdays, weekday evenings, and weekends, and should be comfortable working in various weather conditions. A team-first attitude is crucial for this role, as collaboration with others is often necessary.
