About the position

The EPA Fellowship on Industrial Decarbonization and Sustainability is a paid internship opportunity at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Washington, D.C. This position focuses on supporting the Climate and Sustainable Strategies Division in developing and implementing strategies for industrial decarbonization and sustainability. The fellow will engage in research, programmatic support, partnership development, and materials development, all aimed at improving environmental performance in the private sector. The role offers a chance to learn about EPA programs and policies while contributing to significant environmental initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research and analysis on carbon management, decarbonization, sustainability, circularity, and equity.
  • Develop tools and information resources in various formats.
  • Design communication plans to advance the division's work and industry best practices.
  • Engage with private-sector groups to facilitate information sharing.
  • Support partnership building activities for industrial decarbonization.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings and presentations to various audiences.
  • Develop and disseminate educational and communication materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in relevant fields received within the last five years or currently pursuing one with completion before the appointment start date.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Education or experience related to environmental protection, sustainability, climate change, energy, or public health.
  • Skills in research, analysis, and communications.
  • Experience working collaboratively in teams to solve complex problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in environmental policy or regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with climate change mitigation strategies.
