About the position

The EPC Project Manager at M.J. Electric will oversee the successful execution of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects. This role involves providing project management support, engineering oversight, and technical consultation throughout the project lifecycle. The manager will coordinate with engineering service partners, manage equipment procurement, and facilitate construction planning to meet project milestones. The ideal candidate will ensure due diligence on EPC proposals, clarify project scopes, and collaborate with various teams to align project details while managing multiple project portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the successful execution of EPC projects.
  • Provide project management support and engineering oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with engineering service partners and manage equipment procurement.
  • Facilitate construction planning to meet mobilization and construction milestones.
  • Ensure due diligence on EPC proposals/projects and clarify the scope of work.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management, Operations, and Estimating teams to align project details.
  • Define and document Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and scope of work packages for third-party EPC firms.
  • Lead the selection process for engineering partners and negotiate engineering scope of work contracts.
  • Review technical and regulatory information provided by Owners, Clients, and Engineering firms.
  • Conduct constructability reviews and project pricing in collaboration with the Estimating Team and Operations.
  • Work closely with third-party design engineers and customers to ensure efficient coordination and adherence to budgets and schedules.
  • Assess project issues and identify solutions to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
  • Regularly appraise project progress against established goals and timelines.
  • Conduct site visits and coordinate with independent engineering firms for quality control.
  • Oversee job costing processes and collaborate with the project team to maintain project budgets.
  • Keep Senior Management informed about project progress and industry trends.
  • Provide consultation regarding design requirements and job specifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years in power systems/utility-scale construction with a proven track record in managing complex projects.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, project management, construction management, business administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Electrical industry license (e.g., Master Electrician) or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management certification is highly desirable.
  • Preferred experience in finance and budgeting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineering License is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Primavera scheduling software.
