About the position

The Epic Application Coordinator (HIM) at Oklahoma Heart Hospital plays a crucial role in the implementation and support of the Health Information Management Application. This position involves system design, build, testing, and ongoing support, ensuring that the application meets the needs of end-users and aligns with the hospital's operational goals. The coordinator will work closely with clinical workgroups and Epic representatives to develop workflows and resolve issues, contributing to the overall excellence in patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Health Information Management Application.
  • Coordinate and facilitate solutions for issues arising during the project related to the HIM Department.
  • Work closely with clinical workgroups to develop and maintain appropriate workflows post go-live.
  • Focus on chart tracking, release of information, deficiency tracking, and coding.
  • Attend application support training and complete application certification projects and tests.
  • Identify and resolve issues in the application area and those impacting other application teams.
  • Guide workflow design, build, and testing of the system, analyzing technical issues associated with Epic software.
  • Serve as a liaison between end users' workflow needs and Epic implementation staff.
  • Maintain regular communication with Epic representatives and participate in weekly project team meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Three (3) years of related experience, including experience with the HIM department and HIM workflows.
  • Additional experience with transcription and scanning workflows is desired.
  • Ability to see things in an open-minded way and examine ideas/concepts from multiple angles.
  • Willingness to take ownership of work activities and ensure timely completion.
  • Ability to recognize and seek out additional assignments or tasks.
  • Skill in logically examining and interpreting information to determine problem causes and develop resolutions.
  • Ability to persevere in difficult situations and perform under stress.
