About the position

The Epic Clinical Project Coordinator will oversee various health informatics initiatives and projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful outcomes. This role involves applying qualitative and quantitative analysis within an improvement methodology, managing project documentation, and acting as a liaison between stakeholders and the project team. Strong time management and communication skills are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Single point of intake for health informatics optimization project requests, primarily those with clinical significance.
  • Coordinate with application team leads and HI leaders to set project priorities.
  • Successfully lead high profile informatics projects to completion and continued optimization.
  • Partner with MHS clinical and operational leaders to facilitate project decisions, timelines, and issue mitigation.
  • Establish close working relationships with Epic training team, NEPD, and medical staff to develop engagement and implementation strategies with clinical and operational end users.
  • Evaluate for potential logistical and technical problems and develop solutions.
  • Manage project related material by ensuring all are current, documented, and stored properly.
  • Direct project correspondence by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting minutes, emails, and Cherwell/Sherlock entries.
  • Communicate the identified and defined project requirements, scopes and objectives.
  • Act as point of contact and communicate project status to all involved.
  • Work with the Director, Manager, and/or Team Leads to eliminate obstacles.
  • Ability to generate change through influence rather than authority.
  • Use proven methods to work effectively with colleagues, organize and lead change, handle crucial conversations and provide strong consultative support when requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in healthcare, Business, Informatics or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in healthcare, Business, Informatics or related field preferred.
  • Active clinical licensure preferred, but not required.
  • Epic certification in a clinical application or data/analytics application preferred.
  • Project Management or Process Improvement certifications strongly preferred.
  • Certification in performance improvement (i.e. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Project Management Professional, PDSA, DMAIC, etc.) required within 18 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, including project leadership experience, implementation and support of EHR related projects, quality management or data management/analytics in healthcare setting.
  • Experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years in leadership role.
  • Solid organizational skills, including multi-tasking and time management.
  • Ability to work closely with and communicate effectively with department leaders, physicians, and clinical staff regarding technical and analytical strategies and how they align with clinical processes.
  • Demonstrated performance in project management, stakeholder management, data analysis and critical thinking to reach logical conclusions and facilitate improvement in cost, quality, and/or patient care.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • The ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules, and step-by-step action plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities [internal and external], establish a vision for improvement and create a compelling need for change.
