This position is an independent contributing information technology professional responsible for planning, developing, testing, installing, maintaining, and providing ongoing optimization of applications and related information technologies within Cook Children's Integrated Delivery System. The role requires the establishment, development, and promotion of standard architectures, as well as hardware and software components. The professional will develop clinical and business solutions by investigating processes to understand data and communications flow with individual tasks and transactions. The individual will advocate for user needs and coordinate support requests within the Information Services (IS) department, acting as a liaison among IS, clinical end users, patient care departments, vendors, and other technical experts. This role supports efforts to ensure safe patient care services by developing and delivering clinically and technically sound solutions for customer technology needs. The professional will recommend process changes based on evaluations of risk and failure points, making necessary modifications to workflows and/or current procedures to maximize the advantages of existing systems. Expected activities include monitoring the effectiveness of applications and related information technologies in meeting end user requirements, modifying applications as needed, defining and developing reports, preparing statistical summaries and reports, participating in application upgrades, resolving problems and issues associated with installed applications, diagnosing failures encountered in application software, analyzing issues and identifying trends, ensuring quality control of all application implementations/enhancements prior to release to customers, and maintaining awareness of vendor and industry developments in the area of responsibility. Communication and documentation of all relevant items and activities are also essential components of this role.
