The EPIC Database Administrator is responsible for the installation, administration, configuration, maintenance, and proactive monitoring of the Epic production and non-production environments. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of the highly complex Epic systems, providing ongoing support and technical expertise. The administrator will manage database operations, which include design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, scripting, and utilizing vendor-specific database tools. Additionally, the role involves providing general support for all systems that utilize database technology, ensuring proper documentation, and adhering to appropriate change management procedures. This includes testing and documenting all changes to maintain the integrity of the systems when applications are enhanced or modified. The EPIC Database Administrator will also be involved in capacity planning in conjunction with other system managers to ensure that the database has ample space for growth. This position requires guiding and consulting with IT staff and advising users on various databases. Quality control and auditing of databases are essential to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. The administrator will share 24/7 on-call support of production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security, and performance are met.
