About the position

The Epic-IT Instructional Design & Training Manager is responsible for managing the design, delivery, and evaluation of all Epic training curriculum and classes for Epic implementations. This role supports the learning needs and strategic goals of the organization, overseeing the IT training team and ensuring effective training for approximately 6,000 employees and vendor staff. The manager will develop strategies to promote the adoption of EMR technologies and lead various training initiatives, ensuring consistency and quality across the training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the design, delivery, and evaluation of Epic training curriculum and classes.
  • Plan, design, and execute technology education programs for clinical and non-clinical users.
  • Supervise the build and upgrades of the MST training environments.
  • Align training team roles with individual application teams for respective projects.
  • Assess the needs of adult learners and develop creative training solutions.
  • Execute new projects for prescriber adoption and engagement of EMR systems.
  • Establish and maintain an expert user and credentialed trainer program.
  • Develop long-term strategies to promote EMR adoption and utilization.
  • Manage annual budgets and proposals for training initiatives.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and manage IT Instructional Designers and Trainers.
  • Collaborate with key departments to align training initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Manage the Epic expert program for user support and engagement.
  • Evaluate and propose new adult education and learning tools.
  • Collect data to support business initiatives and evaluate trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Communications, Education, or related field.
  • 6-10 years of management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the learning/development field, including 3 years leading Epic training.
  • Proficient in Learning Management Software (LMS).
  • Extensive knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional systems design.
  • Experience managing and leading training for other applications and technical tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in healthcare field, Communications, Education or related field preferred.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry.
