About the position

The trainer is responsible for mastering the Epic application and departmental specific workflows as it relates to Patient Access and both Professional and Hospital billing. This role serves as a subject matter expert on the end-to-end workflow and data flow through the entire Epic Revenue Cycle. The individual in this position is tasked with achieving in-depth knowledge of the patient access software and acts as a bridge between the hospital end users and the Epic build/implementation teams. In addition to mastering the software, the trainer is responsible for assisting with the planning and coordination of Epic training for all staff. This includes developing the policies and procedures that govern training and grant access to the system. The trainer will also develop, build, and maintain the training environment, curriculum, and test data necessary for effective training. Collaboration is key, as this individual will review, analyze, and build the system in conjunction with Epic, department representatives, subject matter experts, and end users. Furthermore, the trainer will assist with testing for upgrades and releases of new functionality, ensuring that all staff are well-prepared to utilize the system effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Master the Epic application and departmental specific workflows related to Patient Access and billing.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the Epic Revenue Cycle workflow and data flow.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating Epic training for all staff.
  • Develop policies and procedures governing training and access to the Epic system.
  • Build and maintain the training environment, curriculum, and test data.
  • Review, analyze, and build the system in collaboration with Epic and department representatives.
  • Assist with testing for upgrades and new functionality releases.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Associate degree from an accredited program preferred.
  • 1-2 years of patient access experience including registration, scheduling, prior authorization, and patient estimates.
  • Billing experience in hospital and/or professional billing, including claims filing and reconciliation, payment posting, CPT and coding experience, and direct patient service experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3-4 years of experience preferred.
  • Certification in registration, scheduling, or billing preferred.
  • Epic certification in Resolute HB or PB preferred.
  • System implementation experience preferred.
  • Adult education experience preferred.
