About the position

The Epic Senior Instructional Designer at the University of Miami Health System is responsible for planning and implementing engaging learning activities and course content tailored to meet the needs of a specific audience. This role also involves leading lower-level instructional designers and providing necessary guidance to ensure effective instructional design practices are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Work with subject matter experts to conduct needs assessments and identify new development needs.
  • Design and create engaging learning activities and course content that enhances retention and transfer.
  • Identify methodologies for delivering curated content.
  • Research and evaluate new and emerging technologies for instructional opportunities.
  • State instructional end goals and create content that aligns with them.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, user interfaces, and finished products.
  • Determine aesthetics and context for instructional materials to avoid overwhelming learners.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods.
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
  • Create supporting materials/media such as audio, video, simulations, and games.
  • Determine criteria for assessing learner performance and develop assessment instruments.
  • Evaluate instructional effectiveness and maintain project documentation and course folders.
  • Provide guidance and direction to lower-level instructional designers as needed.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, reports, and correspondence accurately.
  • Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Attention to detail in completing assignments accurately.
  • Problem recognition, analysis, and solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in computer software, particularly Microsoft Office.
