About the position

The Epic Solutions Architect 2 at the University of Miami Health System is responsible for the independent design, development, and deployment of clinical applications and technologies. This role involves defining system solutions based on user needs, cost considerations, and integration with existing systems. The architect will also research and select technology products, establish integration strategies, and stay updated on industry trends to proactively identify organizational needs and design solutions that support strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer new workflows or optimize existing business processes across multiple clinical applications.
  • Lead projects associated with application implementation and execution of high complexity and larger impact.
  • Keep abreast of industry information and trends related to information technology systems.
  • Function as an independent project lead or provide oversight for project managers and business analysts on assigned projects.
  • Perform proactive analysis on current systems and technology to recommend changes or enhancements.
  • Identify product and customization requirements for effective product configuration.
  • Serve as a mentor to senior analysts and maintain proficiency in numerous applications.
  • Provide support in analyzing, resolving, and escalating complex integration problems during system implementations.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations with third-party partnerships.
  • Design new solutions that are ahead of industry trends and improve operational processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field; Master's degree is desirable.
  • Epic HIM Administration Certification required.
  • 3+ years of experience engineering innovative software solutions.
  • Experience in major systems development and implementation.
  • Multiple years of experience mentoring and leading analyst and programming teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Knowledge of operational healthcare workflows and medical terminology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Coding Certification (e.g. CPC, CCS, CIC, CMC) from an accredited healthcare program preferred.
  • Epic Hospital Billing and Professional Billing proficiency preferred.
